Detection

Even when it's fire without smoke

FireProtect 2 is equipped with two A1R-class thermistors to detect smokeless fire threats. They give a significant advantage in detecting a rapid temperature rise when synthetic materials burn, or a fire starts from smoldering. Thermistors are located outside the enclosure to eliminate life-saving detection delays. So FireProtect 2 is ready to detect a fire as fast as possible, even if it starts imperceptibly.

Protects from invisible danger

Carbon monoxide (CO) is colorless, odorless, and otherwise imperceptible without a carbon monoxide detector, so poisoning can occur unnoticed. Even low concentrations can be enough to have a negative health impact, especially on those with chronic illnesses, pregnant, the elderly, and young children. High-level exposure can cause permanent damage or even death in a very short period of time. FireProtect 2 warns about a dangerous CO concentration at the level of 50 ppm before even the first signs of poisoning occur. A built-in chemical sensor is responsive to low concentrations and can accurately detect the CO level straight up to 10 years.

Enhanced wireless interconnection

All FireProtect 2 detectors can synchronously notify about the fire alarm in two ways: primary and fallback. In case of danger, the initiating detector sends a fire alarm to the hub. The hub initiates the primary interconnect: all fire detectors will activate the built-in sirens in 20 seconds — three times faster than the fire standard requires. All information is immediately available in Ajax apps: initiating detector’s location, fire alarm type, and exact time.

If there is no connection with the hub, the initiating detector activates the fallback interconnection by directly sending the alarm to other fire detectors. It takes only 1 minute to raise an alarm.

Advanced automation for greater safety

Ajax fire detectors are a part of the Ajax ecosystem and can interact with automation devices and PhOD detectors of the MotionCam lineup through scenarios. In the case of a fire alarm, the WallSwitch relay de-energizes the house, and Relay activates emergency lights. At the same time, MotionCam (PhOD) sends pictures into Ajax apps to identify the cause of the alarm. The result is a reliable combination of security and automation that works as a Swiss watch.

Unique wireless technologies

The Ajax system uses two-way secure radio communication based on the Jeweller proprietary protocol. It supports block cipher encryption and device authentication on every session with the hub to prevent sabotage, spoofing, or data theft.

Ajax wireless technology has up to 1,700 meters of radio signal communication range in an open space, making it on average longer than competing solutions from different manufacturers. Automatic power adjustment makes it energy efficient by not using the maximum power of radio transmitters in system devices on a regular basis. It is also more stable, using less noisy radio frequencies. Ajax hubs use radio hopping to protect against radio interference and signal interception. The system automatically changes frequency within a band and notifies the security company and users about the jamming.

Scaled and comprehensive

For complex radio signal conditions like large houses with thick walls or warehouses with several buildings, there is the ReX range extender. It boosts the range of all Ajax devices and manages their communication with the hub via Jeweller. And ReX 2 assures stable communication even through steel and concrete via Ethernet using the wire as the additional communication channel. Up to 5 range extenders can operate within one Ajax system to expand the network twice as big, covering underground parking, basements, and metal hangars.

Fire alarm sensors: Ajax Systems Fire Detector

Fire detectors are tools for detecting a fire and preventing it from starting. The main mode of operation of the sensors provides for the registration of heat, smoke or gas in a protected area and sending notifications to the owner or to the control panel of the security company. There are several types of fire safety sensors, each with a unique target orientation and different detection methods:
  1. Smoke detectors quickly detect sources of smoke. Such devices are equipped with a camera with an optical pair and an electrical signal processing unit inside the case. The sensor issues a fire alarm if the amount of smoke increases.
  2. Thermal sensors respond to fluctuations in ambient temperature. To improve fire safety, joint installation of smoke detectors is recommended, as such work increases the probability of fire detection and prevention. To reduce false positives, heat sensors are usually installed far from appliances that emit heat.

FireProtect 2 (Heat/CO) is a wireless fire detector with temperature and carbon monoxide sensors

FireProtect 2 is a new generation sensor for detecting fire. Two thermistors on the outside of the sensor allow it to immediately detect a rise in temperature.
Sensor works autonomously thanks to two pre-installed CR123A type batteries.
The wireless carbon monoxide and temperature sensor has a built-in alarm siren that notifies you of an event. The FireProtect 2 fire sensor can function both autonomously and with connection to the hub as part of the Ajax security system. The FireProtect 2 wireless fire detector is available in white and black colors, which allows you to adapt the device to any type of room interior. Once installed, the device can be detached and installed elsewhere using the mobility of the SmartBracket mount.

Features of the FireProtect 2 (Heat/CO) chemical fire detector

Synchronous alarm of all fire detectors installed in the room is triggered in 20 seconds with the sound of a siren and light notification. The alarm mode will be active until the cause of the trip is eliminated or until the user disables the alert.
The wireless fire detector can work without connecting to the Ajax control panel or as part of the security system.
When malfunctions are detected, the LED indicator on the device case signals this. For example, in case of battery discharge or end of service life. The wireless fire detector is tamper-proof. So, if there is an attempt to sabotage, remove from the mounting panel or damage the housing of the device, the user receives a warning in the Ajax application. The device also detects the loss of communication within 5 minutes at the initial settings. The time to detect a lost connection depends on the settings for the number of undelivered data packets. This information is specified in the Jeweller or Jeweller/Fibra settings. The polling period of the wireless fire detector can be adjusted from 12 to 300 seconds.

The principle of operation of the FireProtect 2 (Heat/CO) wireless fire detector

The FireProtect 2 fire sensor detects a rapid increase in temperature in the protected room. To quickly recognize threats, thermistors are located outside the sensor. The Ajax wireless fire detector detects and sounds an alarm if the room temperature exceeds 64°C or rises by 10°C or more within 1 minute. In FireProtect 2, a built-in chemical sensor with a service life of up to 10 years is responsible for detecting a harmful concentration of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, tasteless, and odorless gas produced when the fuel in heating engines and vehicle engines that use coal or other natural fuels does not burn completely. For example, it can be created through heating systems, boilers or fireplaces. In closed rooms with insufficient ventilation, life-threatening concentrations of carbon monoxide can accumulate. The synchronous fire alarm function activates the built-in sirens of all Ajax fire detectors in the system if at least one of them is activated. This allows as many people in the building as possible to be notified of the fire.
The sirens of all FireProtect 2 sensors can be activated in 20 seconds thanks to the advanced algorithm of the synchronized alarm.

Work without connecting to the control panel

FireProtect 2 wireless fire detectors can be used without connecting to an Ajax hub. In this case, the sensor does not send a notification to the user's smartphone, Ajax Translator or PRO Desktop, but only warns the user of a fire alarm with a built-in siren and LED indication.

Autonomous operation of the Ajax wireless sensor

On two CR123A batteries already installed, FireProtect 2 wireless fire sensors (Heat/CO) can work for up to 7 years. Discharged batteries can be replaced with new ones. A radio protocol called Jeweller is a communication technology that provides fast and reliable two-way communication between a security control panel and related devices. The protocol provides up to 1,700 meters of wireless connection with FireProtect 2 in the absence of obstacles. Even on very large objects, sensors can be effectively used thanks to such a communication range. In a system with any number of FireProtect 2 detectors, the radio protocol also enables a 20-second synchronized notification of fire detectors. Thanks to the Jeweller, users and the monitoring panel always have the opportunity to check the current status of detectors in Ajax applications.

Manual and automatic testing

The FireProtect 2 wireless fire detector constantly checks the status of the battery and the built-in sensor. If a malfunction is detected, the hub will immediately notify system users and the monitoring center. And the sensor will turn on the built-in siren and LEDs, meaning a light and sound notification. In Ajax applications, all sensor states can be checked at any time. The fire detector from Ajax can be tested manually. When you press the front panel of the sensor, it starts the performance test. The mechanical button on the front panel can be pressed both by hand and by foreign objects such as a mop. During the inspection, the built-in siren with a volume of 85 dB at a distance of 3 meters is activated and the sensors are checked. This allows the installation engineer to test the device when necessary and show the user how the sensor reacts to different types of alarms with sound and LED indication.

Installation and connection of FireProtect 2 (Heat/CO) fire detector

There is no need to disassemble the wireless sensor housing to install the FireProtect 2. Pre-installed replacement power supplies are available and no tools are required to remove the sensor from the SmartBracket mounting panel. After installing the sensor, the installation engineer can later align its position. In less than a minute, the sensor is connected to the Ajax security system. Just run the Ajax app, scan the QR code and add the device to the security group and room.
