PIR sensor

All Ajax motion detectors use PIR sensors by Excelitas Technologies — a field-leading American manufacturer specializing in designing and producing optronic components since 1931. Ajax Systems constantly proves the sensor’s superior quality at the production stage: we test 100% of manufactured devices. Wrapped into Ajax technologies, it brings the utmost accuracy of intrusion detection.

PIR sensor

Special lens

The pattern of the Fresnel lens sections is designed to differentiate between the IR diagrams of a human, pet, and thermal noise. Large lens sections capture radiation at an adult’s head and torso level. Smaller sections make the diagram more detailed. The lens provides the detector with accurate information about the thermal object in the detection zone and the nature of its movement.

SmartDetect

We processed thousands of thermal patterns caused by humans, pets, and the environment to develop the SmartDetect software algorithm. In armed mode, the detector constantly analyzes the thermal diagram from the PIR sensor, including the IR radiation intensity, thermal spot size, movement speed, time spent in the detection zone, and other parameters. The algorithm identifies false alarm markers instantly and with high accuracy. As a result, the detector accurately responds to human motion without false alarms.

Temperature compensation

Temperature compensation is a software mechanism that keeps the thermal diagram contrast even if the ambient temperature is close to the temperature of the human body. With each ambient temperature measurement, the detector corrects the PIR sensor data according to the coefficient table stored in its memory. The detector is effective over the entire operating temperature range.

Temperature compensation

Sensitivity level

The detector can adapt to the conditions of a particular facility, considering possible thermal interference or pets. The sensitivity setting changes the set of markers by which false alarms are filtered. Low sensitivity makes the detector less likely to respond to an active pet. A high sensitivity will raise the alarm in case of any motion in the detection zone.

Sensitivity level

Professional installation

With the correct installation at a height of 2.4 m and lens direction perpendicular to an alleged intrusion path, the detector provides an accurate thermal diagram and pet immunity. It instantly responds to a real threat, minimizing false alarms caused by pets weighing up to 20 kg and below 50 cm in height.

Professional installation

Enhanced glass break detection

CombiProtect Fibra uses a sensitive electret microphone and the DualTone digital algorithm to detect the sound of glass breaking. To register a glass break and report an alarm, the device must detect a dull (low-frequency) sound of an impact and a ringing (high-frequency) sound of glass breaking in 1.5 seconds. Such a two-stage glass break detection algorithm decreases the risk of false alarms. Three sensitivity levels can be configured in the Ajax app, making the detector suitable for any object.

Glass break detection

CombiProtect Fibra doesn’t respond to the breaking of glass covered with shockproof, sunscreen, decorative, or any other film. To detect such glass breaking, we recommend using DoorProtect Plus Fibra, DoorProtect S Plus Jeweller, DoorProtect Plus Jeweller, or DoorProtect G3 Fibra detectors with shock and tilt sensors.

Fibra

Unique wired technology

An Ajax system uses secure two-way communication based on Fibra proprietary protocol. It features encryption and device authentication to prevent sabotage, spoofing, and data theft. Fibra lines are versatile and support connecting different types of devices to one line: sirens, keypads, and detectors with photo verification.

Energy efficiency as a priority

Fibra communication requires minimum power consumption, with the detector consuming only up to 46 mW at its peak. Fibra operates on the TDMA principle. Each device has a short time frame for exchanging data with a hub, and its communication module remains inactive the rest of the time. This significantly reduces power consumption and helps avoid interferences even when multiple devices communicate simultaneously.

System supervision

All Ajax devices perform automatic self-diagnosis and report their states to the hub. Essential parameters, such as a tamper state, communication, power supply, and sensor statuses, are continuously monitored. The Ajax Cloud server controls communication between the hub and Ajax apps, ensuring instant notifications for ARCs, security companies, and users. In case of any malfunction or communication failure, an engineer is informed immediately to provide necessary services.

Protection against short circuits

Protection against short circuits

Fibra protocol, combined with a special digital algorithm, provides reliable protection against unnoticed short-circuiting of the device. If someone tries to short-circuit it, the device will notify of a malfunction. The hub informs both the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) and users about the incident.

Data encryption

Data encryption

All data the system stores and transmits is protected by block encryption featuring a dynamic key. Encryption makes it extremely difficult to reprogram the device and replace or steal the data.

Regular polling

Regular polling

The device regularly exchanges data with the hub. The system controls each device state and reports if there is a malfunction or connection loss. At minimal polling interval settings (3 data packages every 12 seconds), it takes only 36 seconds to detect communication loss and notify the security company and users about the incident.

Device authentication against spoofing

Device authentication against spoofing

The hub checks the device’s unique parameters for authentication during each communication session. If any parameter fails the check, the hub ignores device commands.

Data-rich notifications

Data-rich notifications

An Ajax system instantly notifies about alarms and events with informative push notifications: security companies and users know exactly which device triggered, when and where it happened.

Next-level protection of Fibra line

Introducing LineProtect Fibra, the module designed to protect an Ajax hub and connected wired devices from sabotage when intruders cause overvoltage and short circuits, apply 110/230 V~, or use stun guns.

Ajax product categories

In an Ajax system, you can combine devices of all product categories: Intrusion protection (both Superior and Baseline), Video surveillance, Fire and life safety, or Comfort and automation. Create the system to suit your needs and manage it in a single interface.

Burglar alarm sensors to protect the premises from intrusion

Security sensors are used as part of the security system to protect the premises from intrusions and prevent theft or damage to property. Motion sensors are one of the most common devices to safeguard premises from intruders. Also, glass break sensors are used to protect the premises. The second type helps to identify burglary through space windows.

Security presence sensors

A motion sensor is a device that detects the movement of a person in a guarded room and controls the situation. Once activated, the motion sensor transmits an alarm signal to the alarm control panel, which informs users of the incident or turns on the sirens.

Principles of operation of motion sensors

Presence sensors analyze environmental waves of various types: radio waves, acoustic and optical. The type of sensor depends on the kind of radiation that the motion sensor uses, and they are as follows:
  • IR (infrared) motion sensors;
  • photovoltaic;
  • ultrasonic;
  • microwave;
  • and a type that uses radio waves — tomographic motion sensors.
The installation of these types of motion sensors does not exclude false alarms of devices, so some technologies are often combined in one device (for example, ultrasonic and infrared). Also, some manufacturers equip the sensor with technologies with which you can avoid false positives, for example, temperature compensation, immunity to animals, and the ability to adjust the sensor settings. Another common type of security sensor in the security system is a glass break sensor.

Glass break detectors for burglar alarms

Glass break sensors are installed inside the facility under guard. The primary function of the glass break sensor for alarm is to notify the owners of the premises after the sound of broken glass is detected.

How glass break sensors work

The principle of operation of glass break detectors depends on the type of device. There are several of them:
  1. The acoustic glass-break sensor picks up sound waves at the level of the glass break. The mechanical circuit associated with the detector amplifies and analyzes the received signal.
  2. The piezoelectric glass break sensor is characterized by high response accuracy and captures the web vibration at the level of mechanical impact at the moment of impact.
  3. An electromechanical glass break sensor detects a violation of the integrity of the web by mechanical action. A characteristic oscillation appears when the glass breaks and the electrical contacts open.
Security alarm glass break sensors are mounted on the walls or ceiling of the room where the window is located. It is possible to install separate motion and glass break sensors as independent devices. But it is also worth paying attention to the combined devices.

Wired motion and glass break detector Ajax CombiProtect Fibra

Ajax CombiProtect Fibra combined wired motion and glass break detector is designed for indoor installation. The device helps prevent unauthorized intrusions and property damage. By installing Ajax security system devices together with a combined motion and glass break detector, you can ensure reliable alarm operation, which eventually scales up to full-fledged protection of the premises with additional devices.

The principle of operation of the combined motion and glass break sensor

The wired motion and glass break sensor CombiProtect transmits an incident signal (when movement or broken glass is detected) to the alarm control panel. The control panel, in turn, informs users and the security company about the alarm activates automation scripts and turns on the connected sirens. Each event recorded by the CombiProtect Fibra wired sensor is stored in the notification feed in the Ajax application. The owner of the premises knows precisely where the fact of glass breaking or the presence of an outsider was detected, thanks to the targeting of Ajax sensors.

How motion detector works

The digital algorithm of the combined SmartDetect sensor eliminates false alarms, which protects against unnecessary patrol calls and worrying without reason. Thanks to the built-in infrared sensor in the CombiProtect Fibra wired sensor, the device will detect the movement of objects even in a room with a temperature close to human body temperature. In the armed mode, the wired motion sensor reads the signal of the IR sensor. When CombiProtect Fibra detects movement, it transmits an alarm signal to the alarm control panel and activates the LED indicator (if the indication is enabled).

How the glass break sensor works in CombiProtect Fibra

The CombiProtect wired combined sensor has an electret microphone that detects glass breakage in the controlled area. For 1.5 seconds, the detector detects a low-frequency (deaf) sound of impact, after which — high-frequency (voiced) sounds from the glass fragments. Ajax CombiProtect Fibra works with a digital algorithm to screen out false alarms and detect the sound of broken glass with a two-factor test.

Information transfer protocol Fibra

The two-way Fibra protocol is used for reliable communication between the CombiProtect combination sensor and the control panel. Alarms and events are delivered thanks instantly to the unique connection method, even if 100 devices are connected to the alarm. The Fibra wired protocol encrypts messages and verifies every communication session to prevent device tampering and tampering. The operability of the system's sensors and the control panel is checked by regular polls every 12-300 seconds (the frequency is adjustable) in real-time in the Ajax application.

Features of the combined motion and glass break detector Ajax CombiProtect Fibra

CombiProtect Fibra, a wired combined motion and glass break detector, has the following advantages:
  • The wired detector sends an alarm to the control panel immediately after detection via the secure Fibra protocol. The communication range of the sensor with the control panel is up to 2 km (when using a U/UTP cat. with five twisted-pair cables for connection).
  • The CombiProtect Fibra combined sensor is equipped with an infrared motion detection sensor and an electret microphone that captures the sound of broken glass in an armed room.
  • There are three levels of manual adjustment of the motion sensor's sensitivity and three levels of sensitivity of the microphone, which picks up sounds.
  • The wired sensor is equipped with a tamper for opening the case and detaching from the fasteners. If an intruder tries to dismantle the device, the security system user will be instantly notified.
  • The Ajax CombiProtect Fibra wired motion and glass break detector meets the requirements of Grade 2. The security device is ready to resist even experienced criminals with professional hacking equipment.
  • Ajax alarm security can be connected to the security console of a specialized organization (security companies accept only certified security systems for the monitoring console — Ajax is one of them).
