ReX 2 Jeweller: Visual verification through steel and concrete

ReX 2 Jeweller is a new generation of Ajax systems smart range extenders supporting visual verification. With ReX 2, wireless MotionCam and MotionCam Outdoor detectors can be installed twice as far from the hub and, with the OS Malevich 2.13 firmware version, even behind concrete walls and metal overlaps.

Extended radio communication range

ReX 2 provides a two-way connection via secure Jeweller and Wings protocols at a distance of up to 3,400 meters from the hub. One Ajax system can have up to 5 range extenders, covering up to 35 km². This is a handy solution for warehouses, industrial complexes, and other large-area facilities.

With the OS Malevich 2.13 update, ReX 2 can connect to the hub not only via the radio but also via Ethernet. Now, multi-floor buildings with underground parking lots and sectional metal warehouses can be protected using Ajax wireless devices without radio signal attenuation or reflection.

How OS Malevich updates

ReX 2 connects to the hub via Ethernet through the router. Ajax system doesn't limit the potential range of a wired connection, but long segments will require amplifiers or fibre optic with converters.

Ethernet allows you to use the range extender as an access point for wireless detectors in the basement, on other floors, or in buildings next door — places where radio coverage is unavailable or unstable. Events and alarms, even of the most complex system setups, will be delivered instantly. The visual verification will be delivered to the monitoring station and Ajax apps within 10 seconds after the alarm.

If ReX 2 is connected to the hub via both Ethernet and radio communication channels, Ethernet is prioritized. For this communication channel to work, both devices must be hardwired connected to the same network through a router. The Ajax hub with ReX 2 connected via Ethernet will also use Ethernet as a main communication channel to Ajax Cloud, CMS, and Ajax apps.

Reinforcing security

ReX 2 is more that just a range extender. It combines up to 199 (depending on the hub model) devices into an autonomous group and manages their communicationIf there is no connection to the hub for some reason, and the detector registers an intrusion, ReX 2 will receive an alarm and turn on the siren to draw attention to the incident.

Visual verification of alarms

ReX 2 supports all wireless MotionCam detectors that take photos when motion is detected, making it possible to evaluate the situation quickly. The alarm is delivered in just 0.3 seconds, and the first photo comes to the monitoring station and users in 18 seconds via Wings radio protocol and in 10 seconds via Ethernet.

Encryption protects photos at every transmission stage, and the Ajax Cloud server does not process or analyse them. Visual alarm verifications can only be seen by users with access to the event feed and by security company employees if the Ajax system is connected to a monitoring station.

Photo by scenario, Photo on demand, and Photo by Schedule features are available only to the users with the right to view and take such photos.

Multilevel anti-sabotage

ReX 2 runs on OS Malevich, which is protected from viruses and cyberattacks. The device reports interference within radio channels, jamming, loss of Ethernet communication, and attempts to disassemble the enclosure. In a power outage, the backup battery will provide up to 38 hours of autonomous operation.

ReX 2 complies with the Grade 2 (EN50131) requirements and is ready to resist trained intruders.

Easy installation, minimum maintenance

We value the time and effort of the security industry professionals, so we do what we can to make our system easy and enjoyable to work with. Pairing the range extender with the Ajax system takes seconds: the process requires only scanning a QR code using Ajax apps. The app automatically tests radio signal strength and attenuation to choose the best place for installation — just run it with a few taps.

The addressability of each device allows you to monitor the status of a particular ReX 2 in real-time using Ajax apps for smartphones and PRO Desktop app for PC. Settings can be changed remotely without visiting a facility.

Alternative power supply units are also available for ReX 2 Jeweller: 6V PSU (type A) and 12-24V PSU (type A). With an alternative power supply unit, a range extender can operate from a low-voltage power supply for years without being connected to the facility’s power grid. This setup is ideal for protecting buildings in critical condition, construction sites, or abandoned properties from burglars, vandals, and unauthorized occupation.
