The Jurmala Municipality (Latvia) faced the need to modernize the security systems of educational institutions. The project involved 8 schools and 12 kindergartens.
Challenge
Ensuring the protection of educational institutions without disrupting the educational process
City councils always strive to enhance the protection of municipal facilities while optimizing budgetary costs. The challenge was ensuring the installation did not interfere with educational activities. It also had to be quick and easy without drilling the walls. An Ajax wireless security system perfectly fits the requirements.
An additional challenge was the deadlines. If classic wired systems had been used, the project would have taken about a year to cover all facilities apart from drilling. However, the installation time was limited in this case.
Solution
A comprehensive wireless security system with centralized monitoring and control
The security system for schools and kindergartens was built around Hub 2 Plus Jeweller. This model was chosen because it supports four communication channels (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and two SIM cards), ensuring reliable system operation with no risk of connection loss. Additionally, Hub 2 Plus Jeweller supports photo verification of alarms, so the administration or security guards can quickly verify the cause of an alarm.
DoorProtect Jeweller opening detectors were installed to protect facilities from unauthorized entry. These wireless devices respond if any door or window is opened, providing the first line of defense.
For larger premises, ReX Jeweller range extenders were used to extend the system's coverage area, ensuring uninterrupted wireless communication throughout the buildings.
KeyPad Plus Jeweller was installed to control entry points and authenticate personnel. The keypad supports authentication via contactless Pass cards, Tag key fobs, and access codes to easily control security modes. With KeyPad Plus Jeweller, the manager can remotely control staff access even when off-site.
About 50 MotionProtect Jeweller detectors have been installed per facility to detect unauthorized movement when schools and kindergartens are in armed mode. The motion detectors feature the SmartDetect software algorithm and temperature compensation to filter out heat interference, ensuring accurate detection with no false alarms.
The Ajax SpaceControl Jeweller wireless key fob is used to activate an alarm in case of emergency quickly. The key fob features a built-in panic button, so the staff can instantly send an alarm with one press without wasting time on phone calls.
HomeSiren Jeweller was installed to notify everyone of any danger with loud sound and LED indication. This siren is also configured to activate the sound if any device within the system reports a tamper alarm.
